Day 6
A God Who PROVIDES
for her devotional series
"Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows."
– Luke 12:7, NIV

As I write this, I can hear my new grandson in the next room. He’s less than a month old, and let me tell you, he does not have a care in the world! He’s vulnerable, but he has no idea! Because his life is filled with people who love him and want to provide for his every need. His mom feeds him and his dad tickles him and his grandparents hold him every chance we get!

That’s how God wants his children to feel. Loved and unafraid. Because his love is perfect, and perfect love casts out all fear. That’s what it did for Mariana* in Brazil. When she was at her lowest, darkest moment, God provided through her aunt and the care and provision of the local Compassion center.

I believe that the thing that we must learn from God’s provision is his overwhelming generosity. None of us had perfect parents growing up – but in God, we have a perfect Father. He desires for us to worry about nothing, to believe we will be provided for. And, in turn, he calls us to be abundantly generous to those around us.

My dear sister, do not be stingy with the gifts God has given you. Look for the people around you who need to see that God provides – and allow him to do that through you! See his wisdom, through the Holy Spirit, to open your eyes to the ways you can be his ambassador.

It doesn’t have to be big. It can be as simple as a nudge to bring someone lunch, to send a note, to make a donation. It simply requires that you look at the people around you, listen for the ways God is calling you to provide and act on them.

Remind them that they are worthy, priceless, precious children of the King.

Here's how you can pray for her, listen to her, and speak up for her today:

PRAY FOR HER: Lord, I pray that my eyes will be open to those whom I can generously provide for. Give me wisdom as I discern what that provision looks like and the faith to love others extravagantly.

LISTEN TO HER: Take a moment, if you haven’t already, to watch Mariana’s story. How did her sponsor provide for her beyond helping her financially? What does that mean to you? What can you learn from her story, and how can you put that lesson into action?

SPEAK UP FOR HER: Know someone who needs to hear the message that God PROVIDES? Share this devotional today!
